Synopsis

The New York Times bestselling author of Darkfever and Bloodfever returns to Dublin’s Fae-infested shores in a bold, sensual new novel. Hurtling us into a realm of seduction and shadows, Karen Marie Moning tells the enthralling tale of a woman who explores the limits of her mysterious powers as she enters a world of ancient sorcery—and confronts an enemy more insidious than she could ever have imagined.

He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too. When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister’s journal, she is stunned by Alina’s desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister’s killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.

Mac’s quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences.…

Publishers Weekly

Urban Celtic fantasy slides down a dark, depressing slope in bestseller Moning's third Fever thriller (after Bloodfever), centered on a hunt for the Sinsar Dubh, a black magic book more than a million years old. As All Hallow's Eve in Dublin approaches, the walls between the human world and Faery verge on collapse. Can former Georgia peach MacKayla "Mac" Lane prevent a total invasion of the Unseelie Court? Originally intent on avenging her sister Alina's murder committed by Unseelie Lord Master, Mac's now a power-player in the war between the Seelie (good Fae) and Unseelie (bad Fae), after learning she's a Celtic sidhe-seeker who can sniff out OOPS (Objects of Power). Meanwhile, the attractive V'Lane, a death-by-sex Fae, wants Mac's help in securing the Sinsar Dubh for his Seelie queen, Aoibheal. At the end, erotic shocks await Mac in Dublin's vast Dark Zone, setting up feverish-if wary-expectations for the next installment. (Sept.)

Thought it was going to be the turning point book in the series, it wasn'tby Snowbunny

January 08, 2009: I (like many others) love Monings Highlander Series, and thought the Fever Series was going to be the best stuff she had ever wrote. I really enjoyed the first book because I thought the writing was good for the beginning of a series, the second book seemed like it was kind of leading up to something, but it came up a little short in the end, though not too bad. I bought the first two books and was ready for Faefever just KNOWING it was going to be the big turning point if the series, basically, thinking it was going to be the best. Well, I bought the book read it one time (skipping major sections in the end because I was really really not enjoying that last chapter), then I turned right around and sold it. I do not miss it in the least. Get it from the library. Don't buy it. It stinks.

December 15, 2008: While I have enjoyed this series, I thought by now the 3rd installment would move a bit faster.... step it up already.....more inter action between the characters, I am tired of hearing Mac's thoughts REPEAT over and over....it almost seems as though each book is written for the 'first time reader' and they need to be brought up to speed.....so much is repeated in this 3rd book....we already know Rowena does not like Mac or trust her...I would like to know exactly why, especially since she (Mac) is a 'powerful' seer.....what is with Barrons??? When is she going to bring him down a notch? I am tired of him getting the 'best of her'!!! This is the 3rd book...some of those answers should have already been taken care of....where does Mac come from exactly? Why do all of the frenemies need her??? But refuse to work together? And the ending....disgusting....she is back to being the little southern dumbell....come on! Let her get busy and start sticking up for herself and having these frenemies give her some respect....THEY NEED HER AND ALL OF THEM KNOW IT....in fact its past time to give her some self respect....I understand the whole unable to resist...but still...she is becoming everyones doormat!
if you are a fan of the series it is still a read, at least to know what is going on, but really I glanced over a lot of it to get to the 'story'....
hopefully the next one will be a lot better!
