      August 22, 2009: Our family just returned from an 8 day tour of Israel including Jerusalem.

      The trip was a prearranged tour aboard a small bus with a group of 15 lead by an Israeli Jewish guide who told us most of the things we needed to know, but we found our Eyewitness Guide particularly helpful in word (printed English) as well as in beautiful color pictures. The Guide gives the important back story with helpful historical data as well as current sociological trends. Compared to other guide books, a few more suggestions as to shopping and dining opportunities could be included. But when you return home, you have an excellent souvenir of your trip.

      April 27, 2009: Let me preface this by saying I have been through a number of travel books dedicated to Israel and the Holy Land in general and I think this one by far is the best. I found it to be very comprehensive concerning Jerusalem proper although it could have been a bit more thorough concerning the rest of the country. What I liked the most about it was that it wasn't clearly biased toward one of the three major religions in the region as I found some of the guide books I consulted to be. All in all, a good travel guide.
