Players are listed by maiden name with married name, when known, in parentheses. Appendices include the rosters of the World War II era All American Girls Professional Baseball League teams; the standings and championships from the AAGPBL; and all women's baseball teams and players identified to date.

Leslie A. Heaphy is an associate professor of history at Kent State University, Stark Campus, in Canton, Ohio. She is also the author of The Negro Leagues, 1869-1960 (2003) and lives in North Canton. Mel Anthony May lives in Kent, Ohio.
