I purchased this book with high hopes, only to have them dashed with several details that are blatantly wrong. Through all of my own research, there are several books that have better facts in them than this book. I would not recommend this book for anything other than something to use to level the couch.

Synopsis

From Jack the Ripper to the FBI's Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (VICAP), the Encyclopedia of Serial Killers provides an exhaustive overview of what is undoubtedly the most macabre and fascinating branch of crime and modern criminology. More than 240 entries and 70 photographs detail individual cases of serial murder from ancient Rome to the present day, law enforcement agents and their techniques, the factors that contribute to the development of a serial killer, and how society chooses to deal with and punish these vicious criminals.

Library Journal

This revision of the 1999 resource of the same title (released in paperback in 2000) builds on the first edition by adding new entries and black-and-white photos as well as updating the original content. Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
