February 14, 2009: Knowing that no one is buying this [text] book because they want to, I?ll explain this from the student?s point of view. While statistics course can be rather daunting for many students, this is one of those few textbooks that are designed to be easily understood with decent, easy to follow examples. Standard statistics terms and notations are highlighted with contrasting backgrounds for ease of use and real world examples are displayed as sidebars. The enclosed CDs are very helpful and contain the sample files and some of the software that is used for the assignments and exercises with the exception of the Minitab software which is available as a free 30-day trial download. Also a nice feature of the book is the how-to examples for use with Minitab, Statdisk, MS Excel and a TI-83/84 calculator. There is also a separate "Student's Solution Manual" available but this is only a redundant, albeit larger print, feature of the same answers already supplied in the back of the book. Overall this is a very clear and concise textbook which may eventually go on your reference bookshelf and not in your resell pile.
