The final score of the first college basketball game was 9-3, a far cry from the high scores of today, but that 1895 contest set the stage for the high-adrenaline NCAA contests of today. In this 1,280-page extravaganza, ESPN pays tribute to one of the most exciting sports on earth, tracking the records, the winners, the coaches, the rule changes, the conferences, and the national tournaments. It's a dream come true for any college hoops fan.

January 16, 2010: Being an old-timer, I found the book to be very nostalgic and informative, to a point. I would have liked to see more yearly statistics for each individual team, but do realize we are talking about over 300 teams. Major colleges were covered in much greater detail than smaller ones. I would not pay full value for the book, but at a very nice discount, it is more than worth it.
