Reading this book makes me grateful for everything I have. I read most of Levi's books. This man was one great writer! Thank you Primo.

This is the third book of Levi that I have read. His insight and first hand experience in this nightmare is set forth in prose that cannot be matched. He can "turn a phrase" as no one else. That the concentration camps could have existed in Christian nations is frightening, so much so that it is uncertain that this darkness might not happen again. The monster is in us all and necessitates eternal vigilance....
Levi wrote of the moral collapse that occurred in Auschwitz and the fallibility of human memory that allows such atrocities to recur. Levi's last book published before his death in 1987.
