      Christine Kotrba

For years, I've purchased cars off the showroom floor because, frankly, I know nothing about determining which used cars are good values and which are lemons. From a financial perspective, I've paid a heavy price for my lack of knowledge. If only I had known about Kyle Busch's book, 'Drive The Best for The Price.' The book is based on his quarter-century of experience with used vehicles and his interest in vehicle design, production, and performance. Mr. Busch's book is a comprehensive volume that teaches the layman the ins and outs of purchasing a used vehicle. Written in simple language-not mechanical jargon-Mr. Busch reviews every aspect of the used car purchase, and offers tips on what the buyer should look for.

His chapter 'Be a Fruit Inspector-Is it a Lemon?' is especially helpful, as are the close-up photographs, checklists, and the section on Vehicle Jargon and Explanations at the end of the book. This is one book that is clearly worth the purchase price. The initial investment will pay for itself many times over in the amount of money that the now-educated driver will save when buying a quality, used vehicle. It's interesting to note that Mr. Busch practices what he preaches. His 1986 Volkswagen Jetta-a used vehicle that is closing in on 300,000 miles-is still going strong.
