      Synopsis

A little kite is stuck in a tree. It's up to Dora to help her get free and make it to the rainbow kite festival. But how can they find their way to the festival? Ask Map! This Level 1 Ready-to-Read bookfeatures rebus icons, and the sweet story is perfect for spring, or any time

      Children's Literature

Dora the Explorer as seen on Nick Jr., is going to help a kite stuck in a tree in this rebus reader. How will she be able to get that high up—Backpack provides some help with ropes and kids are asked to select the longest one. Boots is the climber so he heads up and rescues the kite who wants to get to the rainbow kite festival. Now Map has a chance to show his stuff as he lays out the path for Dora, Boots, and the Kite to follow. It is more challenging than one would think because Dora has to turn off the arms of a windmill which are making it difficult for Kite to get past. They reach the Rainbow Door but of course Swiper is there and he is trying to steal some of the keys that they will need to open the seven doors. The mission is a success and in this book the colors of the rainbow are correctly presented, although it is hard to distinguish more than six in the picture of the rainbow—the blue, indigo and violet seem to present trouble for many illustrators. "Ready-To-Read" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
