May 19, 2008: This is a great book that covers basic embroidery stitches with clear pictures and instructions. There are also many projects included, and even if you don't plan on using the patterns on the project, the instructions are clear enough that you could do the project but adapt it with different designs. You have to have a clear understanding of how to transfer patterns because none of the patterns included are in iron-on ready format. Some of the projects even require simply sewing but no sewing machine, which is good. I honestly was hoping for a book that would explain more about 'doodle stitching' and tapping into my creativity to make my own designs.
