      Synopsis

In summer 2007, the collective tension was palpable. One by one, legions of breathless fans reached the bittersweet end of the Harry Potter series: rewarded for years of patience, yet experiencing odd combinations of understanding and bewilderment, relief and grief, satisfaction with ravenous pining, and often wondering, 'Is that really all there is?' --- Well.... That just depends on how you look at it. --- While J.K. Rowling confirmed that her Harry Potter series has concluded, she also expressed her intent that the Harry Potter books not be fully understood at first reading: not at all. Considering Rowling's cleverness, it would be sad - and also wrong - to think that knowing the crescendo of Deathly Hallows' Chapters 32-36 also means we've fully deciphered absolutely everything in the preceding 4000 pages. Far from it! Beyond the romantic hook-ups, humor, adventure, snogging, red herrings, and even the deaths, Rowling's many-layered series still contains veiled intricacies and misunderstood themes eagerly waiting to be savored with fresh insight. In fact, many of Harry's greatest accomplishments and shrouded secrets remain virtually unnoticed by vast multitudes of readers...including some of Rowling's brightest fans. Of course, that isn't an insult to the fans, but rather, a compliment to the genius of the author. Since Harry's inception nearly two decades ago, Rowling has scattered a myriad of clues that, bit by bit, illuminate the complex mosaic of Harry's secrets and fly in the face of various criticisms. The problem is that exploring and understanding the growing plethora of hints could take years of research and study. --- Not to worry. --- A Harry Potter fanherself since 1999, author Nancy Solon Villaluz spent five years doing exactly that. Rather than rushed conjectures and opinions, you will feast on the fruit of 5 years of passionate research and accurately honed insights; plunging you into a challenging, in-depth analysis of all seven (7) of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter novels, her companion books, and her influences. Does Harry Potter Tickle Sleeping Dragons? daringly tackles the deeper mysteries of 'Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus,' guides Potter aficionados beyond the warm shallows of J.K. Rowling's world into the hidden depths of Harry's richness, and sets a high new standard of excellence for Potter fans. Inside, a journey awaits in which you will discover how a school motto, clandestine faith, and a bunch of books for kids have accomplished the unimaginable. Many will be stunned, others might even be offended; but how many could possibly suspect the veritable banquet quietly lingering right within Harry's own pages...just waiting for anyone brave enough to approach the Sleeping Dragons' lair. So surprising is the evidence within these pages, that even Harry's most devoted fans may find the need to go back afresh and delight in reading Rowling's Harry Potter epic again...for the first time.' --- Do you dare come along? *** ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Nancy Solon Villaluz would rather not 'prattle on' about herself; she feels that any Lockhart-ish claims made here would only cause her readers a few headaches -- and perhaps even a bit of nausea. Instead, she prefers to focus on her goal of lavishly informing her readers on the subject of Harry. (A much better goal than crowing about oneself; wouldn't you agree?) Mrs. Villaluz' book will tell you, quite well for itself, everything that you would want to know about its new revelations, humor, and writing skill in a much more compelling fashion than could be done here; yes, quite so. One caution: ...please make sure you've got your wits about you when you venture in. 'Does Harry Potter Tickle Sleeping Dragons?' will fearlessly take you into Harry Potter's books as you've never been before! *Please note: this book is not authorized by J.K. Rowling, her publishers, or Warner Bros. and is solely for literary analysis, criticism, and commentary.*

May 14, 2009: By the end of this book, Harry Potter fans will be hooked by the unprecedented, excellent education that this book provides on Ms. Rowling, herself. I sure was. Likewise, Harry Potter foes will surely be left with their jaws hanging down to the floor.

This book provides the most comprehensive look at Rowling's intentions and her hidden Harry Potter secrets that I've ever read, and I've read them all. (Hooray! Finally a Potter analyst who truly values Rowling's thoughts more than their own.) The unique narrative style sets this Potter analysis apart from the pack: so does the incredible amount of research (Just chapter 4 alone makes this book worth the price of admission... wow!) and tantalizing facts that gives us a long-overdue look into Rowling's deeper story. Notably, this is the only Potter analysis ever planned as a complete trilogy; it has a flawlessly beautiful layout; cool modern font usage, and each chapter begins with its own Potter-worthy original illustration. And it's in hardcover yet!

This book now sits next to my 7 Harry Potter books as a valuable reference that I peek into frequently. I'm excitedly waiting for the second installment.

March 28, 2009: Bravo!!! Nancy Solon Villaluz has done what someone should have done a long time ago, and done it exceptionally well. If you've ever read the Harry Potter stories and loved them, you must read this book. It doesn't bore us with things we already know or rattle off trivia. Instead, it's a serious (but mysterious and very entertaining) read for us "N.E.W.T.-level" Potter fans. Just when I thought Harry Potter was over, it turns out that I'd only scratched the surface.

Even if you have never read the Harry Potter stories because of opponents like Laura Mallory and her "get satanic Harry out of our schools" campaign, read this book for yourself first! All the facts are here. Those critics have been scoring goals for the wrong team and didn't know it. I bet that Mrs. Villaluz's landmark work will begin the slow turning of that massive tide. Kudos to both Mrs. Villaluz and to J.K. Rowling for their achievements in this area despite great opposition from many adversaries.

I admit that this book left me just a tiny bit unsure in the very beginning, but by the time I finished it I totally understood why the author started off rather gently. It's almost like she was "whistling through the graveyard" knowing that her pockets were full of "dynamite" research all along. Like Dumbledore who starts out with his "Nitwit, Oddment, Blubber, Tweak" speech in the first Potter installment, Mrs. Villaluz's knowledge and wisdom is also much, much deeper than she initially lets on.

I was taken by surprise by the water-tight case for the "deeper level" story that J.K. Rowling very purposely included (by her own admission), but which Rowling also left us free to ignore (and which most of us did). I am now grinning with glee at the thought of giving a copy of "Does Harry Potter Tickle Sleeping Dragons?" to a few of my Harry-hating friends.

I'll be referencing this book again and again.

      Highly recommended!
