      Synopsis

Beautiful Charlie Newcomb is being hunted by vampires, for she is the link to a medical miracle that could be invaluable to the night stalkers. Her only protection is her guardian, Ethan. But will he be enough to save her when darkness falls?

      Publishers Weekly

Brook crafts an entertaining, slow-building romance for her latest Guardian series entry. Charlie Newcomb is a recovering alcoholic working at a bar and just trying to keep her head above water when she comes across a group of vampires nesting on the establishment's roof. Luckily, her enigmatic next-door neighbor Ethan McCabe is a Guardian, or angel, who is keeping an eye on her. The two get caught in a demonic plot that threatens Charlie's sister, Jane, while Charlie must wrestle with not only the undead but with her growing attraction to Ethan. Charlie's traumatic past has left her believably afraid of her own needs, and Ethan is a brave, sweet guy with old-fashioned ideas about chivalry. Brook gives them distinctive dialogue and paints a fascinating, erotic world full of angels, demons, vampires and ambiguity. (Feb.)

January 07, 2008: Sexy and exciting! Definitely recommend it. I was fortunate enough to read an ARC of Demon Night and I thoroughly enjoyed the Guardians world. Meljean Brook creates very interesting and unique characters. Ethan, `Drifter?, is a multi-faceted hero who feels deeply of his duty to protect Charlotte, `Charlie?, a female who is scarred and unsure of herself, but has great inner strength revealed as the story progressed. There is great chemistry between them although neither would admit to being in love, except, maybe, to themselves. Add Charlie?s sister, Jane, whom she deeply cares about and Sammael, a demon, who surprisingly also seems to care for Jane and things start to get very interesting and possibly dangerous for one or maybe more when a seemingly unstoppable evil creature appears. I think Meljean Brook has a vivid and wonderful imagination and `Demon Night? is a great example of it. Will definitely be looking forward to future stories of the Guardians. Congratulations!
