    Synopsis

Hanging out with demons can be hell....

It's been three months since psychologist Megan Chase made the stunning discovery that the world is filled with demons, and once more the situation is too hot to handle. Ironically, Megan — the only person in the world without a little personal demon sitting on her shoulder — has become the leader of a demon "family," but now some unknown arcane power is offing her demons in a particularly unpleasant fashion. And while her demon lover Greyson Dante is still driving her wild with desire, he's also acting strangely evasive. Then there's the truth about Megan's past — the truth she's never known. Caught between personal problems and personal demons, Megan is having one hell of a hard time. Will the help of her Cockney guard demons and her witch friend Tera be enough so that Megan can finally resolve the past, survive the present, and face the future?

    Publishers Weekly

Psychic psychologist Megan Chase continues with her sometimes amusing, sometimes terrifying attempts to step into the leadership role thrust upon her in 2008’s Personal Demons. Megan’s empathy for her clients and callers to her radio show leaves her fighting an uphill battle to persuade shoulder-riding personal demons to be less vicious. Now three demons under her charge have mysteriously exploded; other groups have suffered similar losses, but some of her demons think deserting her for a stronger leader will keep them safe. With the help of fire demon Greyson Dante, witch Tara Green and an assortment of demon underworld figures, Megan hunts down the beings trying to undermine her authority. Readers who haven’t read the first book will struggle to keep track of the minor characters and demon hierarchy, but fans will enjoy the developing complexities. (Aug.)

September 19, 2009: Picked this book up without realizing that it was the second book in a series. I felt like I was missing something a few times while reading, but I was able to follow the story without too much trouble. However, I would recommend reading Personal Demons first, just to have the necessary back story.

That being said, I really liked reading about Megan, her demon boyfriend Greyson, the three demons who act as bodyguards, and Megan's demon "helper" Roc. Megan did not want to become the head of a demon family, but she is slowly getting the hang of what is expected of her and accepting her responsibilities. Suddenly though, her demons are being attacked and Megan must figure out how and why. Megan must also deal with the repercussions of her past and the fallout from a personal crisis.

While I understood that Megan is a human dealing with demons, I wished at times that she would be a little stronger and more self-reliant. Think I may be getting spoiled by all of the tough heroines out there, as in Megan's shoes I would probably be hiding under my bed, refusing to come out! *L*

All in all, Megan is a great character and I really liked Roc, her demon assistant. Greyson was okay, but I loved the three "boys", especially Spud! For demon bodyguards, they were awfully polite (and handy with a curling iron!)

Really enjoyed this book and gave it a 4 out of 5 rating. Not sure if I'll go back and read Personal Demons, but will definitely read any future books featuring Megan!

August 11, 2009: I recommend that you read the first book in the series Personal Demons before reading this book. The story picks up three months after Personal Demons leaves off. Dr. Megan Chase's life as she knew it is now unrecognizable. Megan is now responsible for her own house of personal little demons; the kind that sit on mankind's shoulders and fills their head full of evil and twisted little deeds. The demon inside Megan is growing stronger and hungrier each day, with cravings for blood and violence. Her boyfriend Greyson's a sexy fire demon and they can't keep their hands off each other. Fearing the loss of herself, she shirks her responsibilities of keeping her little demons safe. As a result of her selfishness, they are being picked-off one after another by a malevolent entity that sees her as weak and an easy power source. I was a bit annoyed at how much Megan cried. It seemed like her first reaction to an unpleasant situation is water-works. Besides the excessive crying, I really enjoyed this book. It was delightedly darker and more violent than the first installment, with more twist and turns, wild action and hot sex. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next book in the series Demon Possessed due out 2/23/2010.

I Also Recommend: The Good, the Bad, and the Undead (Rachel Morgan Series #2), Bite the Bullet (Crimson Moon Series #2), Servant, The Devil Inside, Mark of the Demon.
