Great "use what you have" idea book!by NYC_at_Heart

July 11, 2009: Found this on the bargain table & picked it up without really even looking at it (it was a steal, so..). BGH always publishes really great books, and I especially like this one. It's a smallish book @ 159 pgs, but packed with a lot of great photos that help you visualize your own items & different, interesting ways to use them. I'm in the mood to freshen up my home & have a LOT of "things" tucked away in drawers, corners, the attic, etc - just don't know what to do with them (tend to buy w/no plan; God help me if it's on clearance). This book has helped me figure out ways to USE WHAT I HAVE without spending addt'l dollars. There's another book with a "use what you have" title, but that one was of no help (not a BGH publication). This one shows real, "everyday" houses & tells the story of the person/family that lives there; their needs/wants/etc, from a 1st time home owner with only 'hand-me-down' furniture to a couple with a large home filled with antiques. So whether you're just starting or you're in a $1m home, THIS IS AN EXCELLENT IDEA & INSPIRATION BOOK, not simply a designers "rules," which is exactly what I needed!

I Also Recommend: New Decorating Book, Nell Hill's Style At Home, Nell Hill's Feather Your Nest, Michael Smith Elements of Style, House Beautiful Decorating School.
