Critically acclaimed director Christopher Nolan follows up his blockbuster film Batman Begins with the highly anticipated The Dark Knight. Batman Begins was a successful reboot of the popular Batman franchise, and The Dark Knight sequel takes the fresh perspective further, developing the raw cat-and-mouse game between our superhero and his twisted archnemesis, the Joker. Celebrated stars include Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman, returning as Batman, Alfred, Lucius Fox, and Lieutenant Gordon, respectively; and new additions Heath Ledger (as the Joker), Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Aaron Eckhart. The Art of the Dark Knight is the ultimate companion book to the movie, showcasing production ephemera including storyboard art, character sketches, Nolan’s original shooting script, still photos, and even personal behind-the-scenes material created by the Nolans and Crowley during the movie. The Art of the Dark Knight is certain to appeal to diehard and new fans alike.

August 24, 2008: Fifty-seven pages of mostly stock photos we have already seen. The subject with the most pages devoted to it is the Bat-Pod, eight by the way. I am wondering if the script is as written or a transcript of the film post production. Had I the chance to flip through this book in a store before buying online I would have passed on it.

July 21, 2008: The movie is amazing. But why? The action and fighting wasn't enough to carry it. The script is probably the most mature work of any superhero movie ever made. It has oscar-worthy characterization --you know who I'm talking about, constant action and events to keep attention, and extremely heavy themes that are easily accessible by the audience. I think that this screenplay should be up for an oscar, as well as the cinematography by Wally Pfister --maybe directing and orignal score? no one else could have made it as good and stylized as the way they did. With this book, we can see what made such a hugely publicized film the work of art that it is. The movie was terrific, and they deserve every bit of attention and praise received from people learning about the filmmakers in this book. I can't wait to get my hands on it. PS: The action and fighting in this movie were FREAKING awesome. Crap I love this movie
