      Synopsis

Animal babies are so adorable that their daddies can't help but cuddle and love them. In this celebration of parental love, each daddy shows how much he loves his baby in his own special way.

      Annotation

Illustrations and simple text portray a father's love for his child, whether they are animals, birds, or humans.

      Publishers Weekly

The team behind the Gaspard and Lisa books now turns to parental love in a pair of original board books, first published in France: Mommy Loves and Daddy Cuddles by Anne Gutman, illus. by Georg Hallensleben. "All mommies love their babies," begins the text of the first, and counts up from one kangaroo who "loves her joey" to a fish who "loves her [10] fry." And in the second, each spread pays homage to parent and progeny: "Daddy penguin cuddles his chick." Hallensleben's thick brush strokes and naturalistic landscapes pay respect to the energetic creatures he portrays. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

August 01, 2009: My wife bought me this book for father's day, and it's been a favorite for my son and I to read together (he is a little over 2 months old). He especially likes the pictures of the koala bear and the baby koala. There's no story line, but it is a sweet book.

      I Also Recommend: Little Panda.

July 27, 2009: I got this book as a Father's Day gift for my husband from our daughter. She is 18 months. She likes having us read books to her so I thought this would be a good book for her daddy to read to her. It is very simple wording which is good for her age. She enjoys having this read to her and likes looking at the pictures.
