      Biography

Michelle Malkin is the author of three bestselling books, including the New York Times bestseller Invasion. She is the founder of two of the Internet's top conservative blogs, MichelleMalkin.com and HotAir.com. Malkin has worked in daily newspaper journalism since 1992, penned a nationally syndicated column for Creators Syndicate since 1999, and served as a FOX News Channel contributor since 2001. While working as an editorial writer/columnist for the Seattle Times, she won the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws (COGEL) national award for outstanding service for the cause of governmental ethics and leadership, and for investigative columns that exposed campaign finance abuses and corruption by Washington State Democrats, Republicans, and political organizations. After nearly a decade, Malkin escaped the Beltway swamp and now lives a much healthier, happier, uncorrupted life with her husband and two children in Colorado.

February 08, 2010: Culture of Corruption colorfully depicts Obama's first several hundred days and goes in depth and explains how what Obama said differs from what he actually did. President Obama said he felt that lobbyists had become too involved within politics; because of this he banned lobbyists from giving gifts of any size. The book also explains how Obama wanted only the best for his cabinet but many had been involved in scandals and legal issue so they had to withdraw their name. I did not like how the book focused more on the people surrounding Obama rather than himself. I was looking to read a book about the newly elected President but instead received a book about people I had never heard of and how they had wronged America somehow.

However some parts of the book were great pieces of writing and really showed the reader Obama and company's true colors. Occasionally the book will seem a bit dry but it will not disappoint if read all the way through, a better perspective on the newly elected President and the ones he supports. The toughest part to read is the beginning because a lot of background knowledge is needed to grasp what Michelle Malkin is trying to tell you. After starting chapter two though the book starts to pick up and talks about the people that are really close to Obama, specifically his wife Michelle.

Being a teenager I may not have truly appreciated this book because Malkin may have had a different audience in mind. I was unable to process some of the information given to me mainly because I had no idea who the person she was talking about was. Anyone who is into politics will enjoy reading Culture of Corruption because it will really open their eyes and give a different view than television will about today's current politics.

My overall rating for this book is a six, the reason I gave it a barely above average score is because I did not enjoy it from start to finish like you should when you read a book. I did see how someone who truly likes the topics this book covers would give it an eight or possible nine. Before picking up this book I strongly suggest checking it out from the library to see if it's an enjoyable read and worth purchasing.

January 09, 2010: I grew up in Chicago under the Daley administration (the old man, not the kid) and am fully aware of Chicago style politics. I was appalled to see how widely spread (adopted, if you will) it is in the current administration. A definate must read!
