    Synopsis

Crossing the Unknown Sea shows how poetry and practicality, far from being mutually exclusive, reinforce each other to give every aspect of our lives meaning and direction. For anyone who wants to deepen their connection to their work-or find out what their life's work is-this book is essential to navigating the way.

"Readers who accept poet and Fortune 500 consultant Whyte's invitation to enter into 'an imaginative conversation about life and work' are likely to be challenged as well as delighted by the beauty of his writing and the expansiveness of his views. Gracefully using the metaphor of a sea voyage to depict the journey through the world of work, Whyte views work not only as a means of support, but as a means for interacting with the world and developing self-expression and identity...An abundance of provocative ideas... thoughtful readers will wholeheart-edly savor this book." (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

October 04, 2004: David Whyte not only has introduced Poetry and the Preservation of the Soul in Corporate America. He has as well makes his Voice vibrates and raisonates into the soul of many, no matter which audience he has faced, he has an immediate impact on people, quite a gift. He is a true poet, since he has the understanding that every individual is unique and therefore is capable of making his own interpration of what David has to say, nevertheless He is so commited to his craft that he takes the time to dissect His poems or all other poems written by other poets like Neruda, Rilke, Kavanaugh, Mary Oliver and many more... I can only wish to meet him again somehow and being able to introduce to him some French poets as well, David knows that Poetry has no bounderies. I believe that he is ready to take on a bigger task and introduce Poetry and the preservation of the Soul to all the people of our planet.

December 20, 2002: Most of us enter a time a few years into our careers when we wonder how we arrived where we are. Like Dante, we find ourselves in the middle of a dark wood with a deep sense that we have lost our way. David Whyte can help you find your way again. Taking a most thoughtful and realistic approach to what he calls a conversation between ourselves and our workplaces, Whyte uses vivid illustrations and personal experiences to share the value of looking back to our childhood dreams and aspirations as a way to discover what we were meant to do with a passion that will ignite the world around us with life and enthusiasm. This book has not received even a small portion of the publicity it deserves; obtain it and devour it--you'll never be sorry!
