      Biography

      Sarah Royal has spent the past few years in New Jersey, New York City, and Chicago, and has absorbed a great deal of creative profanity from all three environments. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon.

      Jillian Panarese has worked behind the scenes in enough restaurants to have heard a smorgasbord of indignities guaranteed to keep her talking like a sailor for a lifetime. She’s a damned good cook, and currently lives in Clinton, New Jersey.

      August 08, 2009: While walking through my local Barnes & Noble, a bright, little book, titled "Creative Cursing", caught my eye. Normally, I don't spend much time in the humor shelves, but I just felt the urge to pick this up and satisfy my curiosity.

      I was surprised by the book's design, essentially being two, side-by-side, stacks of index card size pages, hole-punch bound with top rings. Flipping to separately random pages on each stack produces creatively unique "curse" phrases.

      Immediately, I knew this would be a great gift for any customer service phone rep. When dealing with a difficult customer, a professional csr must maintain a professional, calm appearance on the phone, even if they want to call them "every name in the book". Perhaps, THIS book might actually be where the saying comes from! I knew my favorite CSR, and love of my life Christina, could enjoy flipping open this book and finding a choice phrase, when she felt her blood pressure rising and needed to diffuse her own rising emotions. Even if she couldn't SAY the words, at least she could get a quick smile, as she thought about the words and could then continue to resolve the difficult customer's (read: jerk's) issue.

      Although, this book is best enjoyed in short-term doses, it is still a memorable and useful gift/tool. She still keeps it on her desk, within arm's reach, whenever she feels the eruption about to occur, and it's provided her co-workers with some good laughs along the way, too.
