Fan-adored author Joanne Fluke always satisfies the cravings of listeners who like their mysteries served with a sugary sweet confection. Hannah Swensen, like most women in Lake Eden, Minnesota, is not a fan of Ronni Ward—the man-stealing gym bunny. So when Ronni turns up lifeless in a jacuzzi—accompanied by one of Hannah's cream puffs—the long list of suspects begins with Hannah.
Foodie fans will eat up bestseller Fluke's 11th cozy to feature Hannah Swenson (after 2008's Carrot Cake Murder). While exercising as part of a dieting program at Heavenly Bodies, Swenson, the owner of the Cookie Jar bakery and coffee shop in Lake Eden, Minn., meets Ronni Ward, a bitchy fitness instructor. Ronni has made many enemies, especially among Lake Eden's jealous wives and girlfriends of men way too attracted to the tart. When Hannah finds Ronni lifeless in the spa's Jacuzzi, Hannah's "slay-dar"-her radar for finding murder victims-proves once again on target; Ronni has received a fatal blow to the head. Hannah's heart gets a workout after her sometime boyfriend, Det. Mike Kingston, becomes a suspect. Dieting and digging for clues test Hannah's willpower in Fluke's fluffy mix of sweets and suspense. Recipes range from Mini Cheeseburger Cookies to Minty Melts. (Mar.)

October 08, 2009: So I've read 11 of these now. Originally found them cute and a pleasant read, but with each addition to the series I found them more and more predictable. This one in the series was mostly about everything else going on in Hannah's life than very much "investigating". The whole Norman/Mike thing has been dragged out WAY too long.
Aside from the weak plot the author's writing style has really started to grate on my nerves. She can't just say "a delicate pink blush crept up into Andrea's face" she has to say "a color of pink about the shade of the pillow shams on Hannah's bed started at Andrea's neck and kept going" (not a direct quote but pretty close). If you don't know what I mean and read this book anyway get back to me after you've read the last chapter. Ugh!Recipes or no - I'm totally done with this series.Reader Rating:

July 22, 2009: The prime suspects are many and the storyline keeps you wondering, "Who is the guilty party?" Just reading the story has your mouth watering for the culinary treats that are mentioned in the book. You just might gain weight from reading this treat, and as you read, "guess who is trying to lose weight?" Also if you enjoy a little romance with your mystery and suspense it's in here. The protagonist is not a "cream puff."
