    Publishers Weekly

Those who can't wait for The End to Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events (book 13) due out on October 13 (that's Friday the 13th, naturally) with a 2.5 million-copy first printing can bide their time with The Beatrice Letters, which uncovers, in part, the mystery behind the lady to whom Lemony Snicket dedicates every book. A beautifully designed paper-over-board package contains the correspondence between the title mystery lady and the author, punchout letters that add to the intrigue, a full-color poster by series artist Brett Helquist all safely stowed in a handy accordion file. Miss it if you dare, as Snicket might say. And to be sure Unfortunate fans truly have everything. Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.

    Biography

To the uninitiated, his name may sound more like dessert than good reading; but Lemony Snicket (known to communicate through emissary Daniel Handler, shown here) is a star author to readers who are hooked on his gloomy A Series of Unfortunate Events books. You never know what will happen to those poor Baudelaire orphans next -- only that whatever it is, it's going to be a head-shaking shame.

July 21, 2009: I started reading "A Series Of Unfortunate Events" because my neighbor was reading it, and I just did whatever she did, and I didn't really understand it very much. Years later, I started reading these books again and then did I truly realize how really great they were. The Baudelaire Children are three orphans who's lives turned into misery when their parents got killed in a fire. Their evil uncle Count Olaf always tries to steal their fortune as they move from guardian to guardian. The Baudelaires have many adventures and make some friends and solve mysteries. Lemony Snicket brings the humor into this book by saying himself that it's, well, bad. I love his style and how he talks to the reader and how he always relates to other stories. I also love the way he relates the story to his own life by using Beatrice and the last name, "Snicket." There is so much mystery and adventure in A Series Of Unfortunate Events, and I loved it.
