    Synopsis

The skeptics have had their say; now listen to the experts. In hundreds of interviews with children who had once been declared clinically dead, Dr. Morse found that children too young to have absorbed our adult views and ideas of death, share first-hand accounts of out-of-body travel, telepathic communication and encounters with dead friends and relatives. Finally illuminating what it is like to die, here is proof that there is that elusive "something" that survives "bodily death."
"New information on what may await us after death...Responsible, highly readable, and certainly thought-provoking."

October 06, 2006: --Closer to the Light is an astonishing novel that introduces the experiences of life after death through the stories of young children. Near-Death Experiences are described as a spiritual journey that clinically dead people go through before miraculously returning to life. When young Katie survived from a serious drowning experience that was suppose to ultimately lead her to her death, Dr. Morse found that Katie was one of the many who had glimpse of life-after-death. After hearing the amazing story of Katie?s Near-Death Experience, Morse couldn?t help but to conduct further research about the phenomenon. As a result of listening to hundreds of children?s stories, he found that the stories were very similar and found the few things that they all had in common. Most experiences consisted of leaving their body as a spirit, traveling through a tunnel or hall of light, meeting figures of light, and some visiting of previously dead relatives or friends. --Dr. Morse not only explains the ideas of Near-Death Experiences in a well and easy-to-understand manner, but also is open minded to each and every child?s story, which gives the reader more insight about each experience. If you are searching for a scientific explanation as to why Near-Death Experiences occur or are very religious and do not believe in after-life, this may not be the story for you. However, most if not all people who read the book has found it to be enlightening and very comforting. Not only does this compelling book give faith of a better place, to the people who may be losing a special someone, but it also comforts the many of those who have already lost someone. Overall I think that this is a very insightful and uplifting novel that all who read it would enjoy.

February 06, 2006: I read this book many years ago, and to this day I continue to rely on it when someone I know watches their beloved baby or child transcend their earthly family. When my faith pales, and I cannot utter comforting words, I give this book to grandparents and parents.
