    Synopsis

Bottom-line coverage that's quick and easy to read! The text reviews the physiology behind the 8 sub-areas of the gastrointestinal system, fully preparing readers for their in-service, board, and recertification examinations. The book is brief and extremely well organized. Each chapter begins with a case study about a patient with a function disorder followed by a discussion of physiology and pathophysiology. The case report is reintroduced, and diagnosis and management strategies are discussed. An overview of the illness brings each chapter to a close.

    Annotation

    This book contains color illustrations.

    Syed Zaidi

This book contains a quick review of gastrointestinal physiology. It is intended to provide an examination review in an easy-to-use format. This book is aimed at a target audience of gastroenterology fellows, general surgery residents, and young practicing gastroenterologists. Both authors have excellent credentials and are well-known authorities in their field. The book includes color illustrations that the authors have taken great pains to conceive and are very well produced. There is a severe paucity of references that relate to recent texts but not necessarily to current published literature. The book is well organized with an easy-to-read format and an overall attractive appearance. The book would be useful for medical students and trainees. It correlates clinical situations in the context of gastrointestinal physiology, providing conceptual data that could be useful as a quick review.
