    Synopsis

Bloodlust and dark forces are at work at the House of Night…

Fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird’s adventures at the school are about to take a mysterious turn. Those who appear to be her friends are turning out to be enemies. And oddly enough, sworn enemies are also turning into friends. So begins the gripping third installment of this “highly addictive series” (Romantic Times), in which Zoey’s mettle will be tested like never before. Her best friend, Stevie Rae, is undead and struggling to maintain a grip on her humanity. Zoey doesn’t have a clue how to help her, but she does know that anything she and Stevie Rae discover about the secretive and sinister power that’s turning dead fledglings into bloodsucking monsters must be kept secret from everyone else at the House of Night, where trust has become a rare commodity.

Speaking of rare: Zoey finds herself in the very unexpected position of having three boyfriends. Mix in more than a little forbidden desire to the equation and the situation has the potential to spell social disaster of massive proportions. Then, vampyres start turning up dead. Really dead. It looks like the People of Faith, and Zoey’s horrid step-loser in particular, are tired of living side-by-side with vampyres. But, as Zoey and her friends find out, things are not always what they seem…

    Children's Literature

Zoey Redbird is a teenage diva in every respect—well, almost. She doesn't get along with her mom and she hates her stepdad. That's normal. She adores her sweet grandmother. That's normal. What makes her different from the average teenage girl is that she is a vampire. In fact, two of her three boyfriends are vampires, her best friend is one of the ghoulish undead creatures that walk the streets at night preying on homeless people, and all of the students at the private boarding school she attends are fledgling vampires, including Zoey. Plus, Zoey is the president of the student body, if you consider being in charge of the Dark Daughters to be a leadership position. Filled with secrets, Zoey's life becomes harder and harder to handle as she tries to juggle what she has to do with what she is expected to do. Her main obstacle is the high priestess, who reigns over both the "vampyre" community and the boarding school. In this third book of the "House of Night" series, Zoey finds strength to challenge the priestess, who she believes is not what she appears to be. (But then, who is?) Paranormal chick-lit for vampire lovers! Reviewer: Gail C. Krause

November 29, 2009: Ok so I love the vampire stories but not alot of books take my attention the way twilight did. the other day i was christmas shopping and happend to see the frist book in the House of Night serious "Marked" and grabbed it. three hours later i had finished the frist book and quickly bought the rest of the serious. i have finished all books in 5 days. I can not wait for the mother daughter duo to come out with another book for this serious. This is a Harry Potter meets Twilight type of book. A Must read over and over again. P.C and Kristin really now how to write a great serious.

November 09, 2009: Okay, I love juicy vampire novels, especially when there are a series of books involved. After reading Twilight I was starving for more, and found the Blue Bloods, Sookie Stackhouse, J.R.Ward, Mercy Thompson, and Sunny's Mona Lisa, but still nothing really got me that same twilight fix. Don't get me wrong! These series are absolutely wonderful too, but it just wasn't the same.

I had tons of book store people tell me to try the House of Night series, and because of that, I didn't. Yes, I know I am a wierdo. If some one tells me to try something, I probably won't. Well, I finally ran out of great stories and decided to take the advice of my 13 year old nieghbor ( yes, really she is a reading fanatic liek I am , and is 10 years younger than me!) and finally started the house of night series.

Wow! It is great! I read through the first three books in two days, and am now at a stand still waiting for the rest of the series to get here in the mail. It is amazing. I wouldn't call it Twilight, but it totally has that page turning effect on me. I can't get my mind off of it, and I have been so emotionally attached to some of the characters, I actually cried when one of them died, and even got pissed when another turns out to be a baack stabber.

Seriously, I know it is suppossed to be geared towards teens, but hey, I am only 23, I was a teen not too long ago, and Zoey is close enough to 20 that I can relate. House of Night reminds me of dorm life at college.

Over all, it's an excellent choice to kill a whole weekend! :)
