    Synopsis

The compelling thriller that launched the career of best-selling novelist Stuart Woods in an anniversary hardcover edition.

    Annotation

Beginning in 1920, Chiefs spans 40 years, chronicling the experiences of three Georgia police chiefs who watch the world, their town and their jobs, change. At the heart of this incredible read is a 40-year-old mystery each chief must try to crack. Reissue.

    Pat Conroy

Wonderful. . . Stuart Woods has written a classic! .

    Biography

With several successful mystery series going at once -- the most popular featuring jet-setting cop-turned-lawyer Stone Barrington -- Stuart Woods more than manages to keep focused on a bestselling streak that shows no signs of slowing down.

One of my favorite booksby jch9596

September 21, 2009: It's one of my favorite books, period, not one of my favorite Stuart Woods books or paperbacks. It is, without a doubt, one of the best books I have ever read. The book feels as though it is being read to you by a man with a deep soothing voice and a knack for storytelling. The first third of the book reads the best, the William Henry Lee part. For you Will Lee fans, this character would be President Lee's grandfather, the first chief of the town of Delano, Georgia.

My one complaint is that some parts of the plot were left unanswered in later Will Lee books. I want ask them here so to not spoil anything. And frankly those might be concerns for later books, not this one.

I believe I have owned three paperbacks of this one, each having to be replaced because I read them to death. One day, perhaps I'll find a hardcover.

    READ THIS BOOK!!! It's awesome!

I Also Recommend: Grass Roots (Will Lee Series #4).
