    Synopsis

Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul: 101 Stories of Courage, Hope, and Laughter by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Patty Hansen, and Irene Dunlap is a collection of essays and poems written mostly by children, as well as some adults who remember what childhood is like. The collection is filled with inspiring stories of kids making a difference in their own lives and the lives of others. The stories here show that children can be heroes, true friends, generous volunteers, and much more. Mixing the serious, sad, and sometimes just plain silly, the stories in this collection cover a myriad of childhood experiences.

With essays from celebrities such as Shaquille O'Neal, Roald Dahl, Chuck Norris, Shannon Miller, Kathy Ireland, and children from across the country, Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul addresses all of the issues that concern kids today. Love, family, loss, dreams, and adversity in its many forms -- the issues facing kids today are tougher than those faced by previous generations. Adults who read this book will gain insights into what it is like to be a kid at the turn of the millennium, and kids will find support and understanding. Certain to touch hearts and spark discussion among the entire family, Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul unabashedly presents the issues facing children today, from new challenges to age-old growing pains.

    Annotation

"...the popular Chicken Soup series now includes a volume of stories that will appeal and touch children of all ages."

    Children's Literature

By now, everyone must have heard about the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books. Well, this one is by kids and for kids. Thousands of stories were collected from kids and adults, well-known and unknown. The authors selected 101 of the stories to inspire courage, hope and laughter. They are aimed at children of all ages and their particular needs, but anyone will enjoy reading these vignettes on love, friendship, family, attitude and perspective, death and dying, achieving dreams, overcoming obstacles, choices, tough stuff, and eclectic wisdom. There's a story to touch everyone's heart, er..soul, especially the ones that are written by the children. There also is a list of organizations that help children, an invitation to write your own story, cartoons, and a blurb on each writer which restores one's faith in the youth of tomorrow. March 18, 2008: Chicken Soup for a Kid's Soul gives the readers a chance to actually think about other people's feelings and hopes. It is not like normal books, where you buy them and the book has one topic. This book has many different stories to learn from. For example, one book is about a good friend dying, another great story is about an old man giving away his puppy. This book has many different stories written and published by children all in one big fat book. The book has 101 different stories, including poems and comics. I would put some of my stories in that book. Plus, the kids get to split a portion of the money that is made from the book's sales. The many authors are trying to give messages to the reader, like everything can't forever, treat people how you want to be treated, be kind, and many other lessons. I LOVE this book. It has taught me many things. Everyone should read this book, because of the amazing stories written by children their own age. I hope they publish a Chicken Soup for a Child's Soul 4.
