A family brings home a rambunctious puppy.
A family may have to get rid of their new pet, a cute puppy that eats everything in sight, including toys, bowls, and porches.
When Father brings home a new puppy, it is love at first sight. The family takes good care of its new member but, although he is a very cute puppy, they quickly discover that he is also constantly hungry. No matter how much they feed him, he still wants to chew everything in the house, earning him the nickname Chewy Louie. Louie's destructive behavior is not so bad until he starts eating toys, furniture and even parts of the house. Rest assured that Louie is only going through a growing phase, and he needs time to grow out of it. Children will laugh at loud at the riotous behavior of the rambunctious pup. They may even learn that taking care of a new puppy is a big responsibility and can only be done with a lot of patience and love. Award winning cartoonist Howie Schneider has created a hilarious puppy in Louie and has flawlessly captured the pup's destructive whirlwind with comical color pencil illustrations. 2000, Rising Moon, Ages 3 to 6, $15.95. July 20, 2008: My son is 20 months old and loves this book. It's a really silly story about a boy and his dog, but the best part for reading it to a toddler is this: the amount of words per page. It's the perfect length per page for the rate of page-turning that a tot requires. The illustrations are fun and big, and it's easy for the reader to make it more fun by giving silly voices/tunes to the trainers. We have all gotten more than a couple of chuckles from this book!
