Synopsis

According to Hall (Biozentrum U. of Basel, Switzerland), "cell growth has not received as much attention as it deserves" given its importance in basic biology and clinical practice. To redress this situation, 20 chapters by international experts present evidence from genetic analysis and other approaches shaping current thinking about the growth of individual cells and organs, and regulation of animal and plant cell growth in the contexts of evolution, development, and responses to physiological conditions.
