Guarnere, a tough street kid, and Heffron, a thoughtful and introspective boy, both from South Philly, went on to become brothers in battle and best of friends.
Robyn Post has been a professional journalist for 13 years and profiled the two men for Philadelphia Magazine.

July 24, 2008: Wow!! I could not put this book down. I own the mini-series B.O.B. and have seen each one a number of times. I've read the Band of Brothers book by Ambrose so I consider myself very knowledgeable on the subject. Brothers in Battle has to be hands down the best book that I have ever read! (I look forward to reading other E-Company Veterans' books) It truly shows the bond formed only in combat. Like Henry V said 'For he to-day that sheds his blood with me, shall be my brother.' 'Wild' Bill and Babe are a quite a duo while the majority of the book is describing the heavy combat, there are some lighter parts, such as their stories of a weekend pass in London. Throughout the entire story you really do develop a much deeper admiration for what these men did, and what the price of freedom really is. I have the utmost respect for every single man and woman who gave up a little something for our freedom. They truly were the greatest generation! I am so glad to see that more and more WWII veterans are perserving their memoirs into a story, that way their memories are forever enshrined in a novel, which will ensure that they are never forgotten. After reading this book I had the strongest urge to write Babe and Bill a letter thanking them for their services, however contacting them has been much harder than I ever imagined. I could go on forever telling you all the great things about this book, but you might as well just buy it as soon as possible!! Thanks for your time!

April 05, 2008: Moving. Raw. Informative. Heartwrentching. Incredible. The story of WWII seen through the eyes of 2 Easy Company men. The thing that separates this book from most wartime books is the fact that it is mostly about their personal stories and experiences as opposed to tactics and facts... One of the greatest WWII books I have read for anyone and everyone.
