    Synopsis

Millions of readers of Hatchet, The River, Brian’s Winter, and Brian’s Return know that Brian Robeson is at home in the Canadian wilderness. He has stood up to the challenge of surviving alone in the woods. He prefers being on his own in the natural world to civilization.

When Brian finds a dog one night, a dog that is wounded and whimpering, he senses danger. The dog is badly hurt, and as Brian cares for it, he worries about his Cree friends who live north of his camp. His instincts tell him to head north, quickly. With his new companion at his side, and with a terrible, growing sense of unease, he sets out to learn what happened. He sets out on the hunt.

    Annotation

Two years after having survived a plane crash into the Canadian wilderness, a sixteen-year-old returns to the wild to befriend a wounded dog and hunt a rogue bear.

    The Washington Post

As always, Paulsen spins a fast-paced tale, characterized by a refusal either to soften the often gruesome details of life in the bush (here, partially eaten bodies, wounds riddled with fly eggs and worms) or to romanticize wildlife (in this case, bears). — Elizabeth Ward

    Book Review Outline

Book title and author: Brian's Hunt by Gary Paulsen

Title of review: Brian's Hunt Review

    Number of stars (1 to 5): 5

    Introduction

Brian's Hunt is an adventure book. The point of the book is to tell a story about a boy named Brian who is on his own on an island. I would recommend this book to anyone likes adventure or mystery in a story.

Description and summary of main points

I think the most important part of the book is when Brian finds the dog because if he didn't find the dog none of the book would make sense. I also think it was important when Brian was rowing his canoe toward his friends cabin and he didn't smell any cooking or anything from the house. You would defiantly like this book if you are looking for something to keep you interested.

    Evaluation

Two critical elements in this story are Brian not smelling anything from the cabin because it tells him something is wrong, and while Brian is hunting the bear he finds out that the bear is actually hunting him. The goal of this book was to keep the reader entertained and I think the author did that very well. I like this book better than a lot of adventure books because I like putting myself in Brian's situation and thinking about what I would do.

    Conclusion

Brian's Hunt is the best book I've read in a while. I like it because it kept me interested the whole way through and I would advise anyone who likes to read to take a look at this book.

September 14, 2009: This story is about a teen boy named Brian. He is camping in the Canadian wilderness and hunting animals. This is the sequel to The Hatchet also by Paulsen.

Brian is sleeping in his boat after a long day of hunting. He is awoken in the middle of the night to a whimpering sound. He finds out it is a dog and it is badly wounded. Once he fixes up the dog his instincts tell him to go north to where his Cree friends are camping.

Brian is camping in the Canadian wilderness. He finds a dog and fears his Cree friends are in trouble. I think the theme of this story is trust your instincts. The authors style in this story is plain the story is easy to read.

If you like hunting or excitement I recommend this book. Brian does find his friends buts it's up to you to find out what happened. Over all this is a good book to read.

I think if you like to hunt or you like excitement and you like books to be interesting and mysterious you should read this book.
