Synopsis

The top-selling title in our Imaging Companion Series is now in its revised, updated Third Edition. Featuring over 1,000 large, clear images accompanied by brief, bulleted "key facts," this how-to book provides everything readers need to obtain high-quality scans...correlate radiologic, pathologic, and clinical findings...and communicate the significance of imaging results to referring physicians. This edition has a new chapter on magnetic resonance imaging and new information on the ACR Ultrasound BI-RADS Lexicon; keloids and hypertrophic scars; cutaneous angiosarcoma; subareolar abscess; columnar alteration with prominent apical snouts and secretions (CAPSS); mucocele-like lesions; cat scratch disease; granulomatous mastitis; and granular cell tumor.

Annotation

The book contains black-and-white illustrations.

Anne M. Kennedy

This review of breast imaging is in note form, listing key facts in each of the areas covered. The book is intended to serve as an ""introduction, overview and review of breast imaging"" targeted to radiology residents. This is a small, reasonably priced text covering the key areas in breast imaging. It serves as a succinct introduction and concise pre-boards review. The author has targeted radiology residents, but many surgery residents would benefit from reading it. It is also likely to be useful as a quick reference of unusual conditions for the practicing radiologist. The book is liberally illustrated with high-quality reproductions of mammograms and ultrasound images. The table of contents is excellent, as is the index. The book is visually pleasing and surprisingly easy to read, given the note-style format. There are many large review texts on breast imaging currently available. The beauty of this book is that it packs an enormous amount of useful information into a portable package. The images used to demonstrate the key points are of high quality, with good figure legends. At this price, I would recommend that residents purchase it. Practicing radiologists will find a copy at the alternator a useful source of information on the rarer conditions that affect the breast.
