November 23, 2001: When I originally considered buying my first bouvier puppy, I read this book completely for information and history. This book succeeds admirably. Jim Engle loves the breed and it comes shining through. He provides great detail which enabled me to ask intelligent questions when I interviewed breeders. The book emphasizes working the bouvier especially in schutzund. It is a thrilling protection sport. Most of us are pet owners. My recommendation for a revision would be to broaden the capabilities of the bouvier. I keep the book on my bookshelf. I do refer to it from time to time. It is definitely worth buying.
