    Synopsis

Agatha and Anthony Award winner Nevada Barr, New York Times best-selling author of Winter Study, enthralls millions with the exploits of roving park ranger Anna Pigeon. While vacationing in Big Bend National Park, Anna and her new husband find themselves sucked into a riptide of danger and intrigue that surges from the Mexican desert to the Texas governor's mansion.

The Washington Post - Maureen Corrigan

As Borderline demonstrates, Anna is a character whose best features surface in adversity. When she's at rest, she's somewhat depressed and flaccid; but when she's sweating and, yes, sometimes even bleeding, she's stoic, strong and beautiful.

July 27, 2009: Interesting setting along the Rio Grande and in Big Ben National Park. Hard at first to link all the characters together, but it makes sense by the time you're a third of the way into the book. Texas characters are not favorably characterized, the mayor of Houston and her entourage, in particular. Some interesting reflection of border tensions and racial stereotyping in the story.
