December 21, 2005: This was one of the first books to really talk about self-mutilation in and of itself. It is a groundbreaking study and amazing in scope. I found it to be a good starting point for understanding self-mutilation, and also very much enjoyed the end essay by the author Fakir Musafar. Recommended for those dealing with SI and those who just want to better understand it.

March 16, 2001: I bought this book in the store. I should have read the authors preface. Seven chapters into the book now and I really understand why it was rejected by so many publishing companies. I read for informational purposes only and this book gave me no information at all. I consider myself of above intelligence, however there are many, many words in this book that I had to open a dictionary to see what the author meant. This book reads worse than a VCR instruction manual.
