    Biography

    The National Council of Negro Women, located in Washington, D.C., was founded in 1935 and operates in 42 states, with vital programs addressing women's special concerns. This book was developed by Libby Clark, Food Editor of The Los Angeles Sentinel; Janet Cheatham Bell, President and owner of Sabayt Publications in Chicago, Illinois; and Jessica B. Harris, a professor at Queens College, New York, and the author of several cookbooks.

    November 09, 2004: I received this cookbook in college from my husband as a gift 14 years ago. I have used it so often over the years the pages have splatters from all the meals I've prepared. You can't go wrong fixing anything from it. Entire holiday meals from appetizers to sweet potato pie can be prepared. And the stories really bring back childhood memories in my Granny's kitchen. This is a must have for anyone who truly enjoys southern heritage cooking.

    September 09, 2001: I absolutely love this book. I am a newlywed who turns to this book for every meal. This book provides me with the recipes for many of my favorite dishes. The dishes taste just like my mother's cooking. My mother is two hundred miles away and this book is a terrific substitute.
