Kino lives on a farm on the side of a mountain in Japan. His friend, Jiya, lives in a fishing village below. Everyone, including Kino and Jiya, has heard of the big wave. No one suspects it will wipe out the whole village and Jiya's family, too. As Jiya struggles to overcome his sorrow, he understands it is in the presence of danger that one learns to be brave, and to appreciate how wonderful life can be.

It does and wipes out there village.Description and summary of main pointsThe old Gentlemen come down from the castle and tell Jyia and Kino to come in the gates so they don't get hit by the wave. They refuse and the old gentlemen close the gates. The wave comes and splits Jyias house in two.EvaluationI didn't really like the book because I didn't think it was long enough and I thought it was kind of boring. ConclusionJaya, Kino and Setsu decide that they aren't going to be afraid of the wave and stay on the island. So it's rather easy to connect with how Pearl S. Buck writes. EvaluationThe book was great because it's easy to read and pretty much everyone would enjoy it.ConclusionThe theme of the story is friendship is everything. Your final reviewThe author writes many superior books but this one was very vivid and made it an interesting story.
