Remy is no ordinary rat. A cuisine of local garbage just won't cut it—he has a taste for the finer foods in life. Can Remy make his dream of becoming a gourmet chef come true? Find out in this fun-filled Step 2 reader that retells Disney / Pixar's latest animated feature film, Ratatouille!
The movie Ratatouille was bound to produce some spin-offs, and this early reader is one of them. It tells the movie's story in brief form. Remy is a rat who does not like his jobsmelling garbage to make sure that it is safe for his family and friends to eat. This is not the life that he longs forRemy wants to be a chef. As luck would have it, he ends up in a restaurant where a young apprentice named Linguini is trying to make soup. Remy's incredibly culinary instincts let him knows the soup is going to taste bad, so he fixes it. Of course, it is a hit. Soon, Linguini and Remy work out a way of cooking together. Linguini becomes a famous chef, but it is Remy who does the real cooking. It all works out, and both Linguini and Remy achieve what they desire. The cartoon-style illustrations fit the text, and kids who enjoyed the movie will like this reprise of the story. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
