Fifty-seven quick, fun, and inexpensive projects fill the pages of this book. These activities help the reader understand simple science concepts such as static electricity, friction, levers, and optical illusions. Step-by-step directions complete with illustrations will help readers successfully complete the activities. Each activity includes a call-out box that describes the science concept demonstrated by the activity and how it is accomplished. The necessary supplies are listed on each page under the heading "You will need," but the font is the smallest one on the page, making the list a less-than-prominent feature. A table of contents listing activities, an index of science concepts, and a list of websites to visit are included. The website page directs the reader to the Usborne site and explains how to locate the science resources there. While these sites cover the same concepts as the book, they are not in the same order as the book activities, so it may be hard for a reader to find the appropriate corresponding site. Over 800 colorful stickers are included to add to the activities that readers create. This is a great rainy day, after school, or science class activity book. Reviewer: Barbara Wheatley
