Biography

Born in Vietnam and raised in Thailand, Mai Pham came to the U.S. with her family in 1975. After working as a television reporter for several years, she decided to pursue a career she truly loves—cooking. Today, in addition to being chef and owner of the award-winning Lemon Grass Restaurants and Lemon Grass Cafes in Sacramento, California, Mai teaches Southeast Asian cooking. She is married to Trong Nguyen, founder of the Northern California-based La Bou Bakery/Cafe chain.

April 11, 2008: Just the cover has my mouth watering. The recipes make my taste buds go into overload. The book is so magnificently laid out with tons of recipes and presented so well. I, as a beginner in the kitchen, feel that I can master the art of whatever delectable dish I'm attempting at the moment. I raise a toast to the author and look forward to many more successes!

April 04, 2004: I have made ten (or so) recipes from this book - everything comes out perfectly and is delicious. Ingredients are not too hard to find and the recipes are clear and precise. Yum!
