Synopsis

Encouraging social workers and social work students to become participants in efforts to build a more humane society, this text shows how effective policy practitioners combine solid research and analysis with political skills to get their proposals approved by decision makers. The book guides readers through the process of agenda setting, problem analysis, and proposal writing through policy enactment, implementation, and assessment. This fourth edition presents two new models of policy practice, a new chapter on ballot- based policy advocacy, an expanded discussion of ideology, and new Web topics and exercises. The author is affiliated with the University of Southern California. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
