September 08, 2005: This book is good for two reasons. 1) It was written in the sixties by someone who had access to the band - so he tells you stuff that no other author could know, and 2) he delves into other areas that are not strictly related to the band. For example, the chapter where he looks up Pete Best in 1967 to see what he's been doing is both poignant and funny. And the part where he finds Astrid Kirchherr still mourning Stuart all those years later is touching. It is also the only Beatles book that sits in on an actual writing sessions - when they wrote With A Little Help From My Friends. Priceless stuff!
