      Synopsis

Frank Pollard is afraid to fall asleep. Every morning when he awakes, he discovers something strange--like blood on his hands--a bizarre mystery that tortures his soul. Two investigators have been hired to follow the haunted man. But only one person--a young man with Down's Syndrome--can imagine where their journeys might end. That terrible place from which no one ever returns.

      Publishers Weekly

A psychic child warns of danger as a murderous family stalks its amnesiac brother and the married detective team the brother has hired to help him. ``Koontz should lure even more readers to his myriad following with his terrifyingly credible fantasy,'' predicted PW. (Dec.)

      Biography

Amazingly prolific and relentlessly suspenseful, Dean Koontz can be counted on for chilling, sometimes gory stories that occasionally overlap genres. His novels can jump from straightforward crime to sci-fi to horror, but the one thing he's consistent about is delivering nail-biting yarns that have kept fans reading for more than three decades.

June 10, 2008: First of all, I am a huge Dean Koontz fan. However, I was unsure that I would enjoy this book as it was not the usual horror/mystery that I read. This book kicked into high gear right from the start and had me going to the very end. I love the way Koontz took this story and made it like no other. Books like these are exactly why reading is a wonderful way to take you to a world you would never see in real life. And, unless I am reading a nonfictional book, that is precisely what I want. Koontz delivered. He still reigns.
