    Synopsis

Renowned as the most comprehensive atlas in gastroenterology, Dr. Yamada's masterwork enters a Third Edition with hundreds of brand-new and updated illustrations. The atlas uses the latest endoscopic imaging techniques as well as double contrast radiography, CT, isotopic scintigraphy, ultrasonography, MRI, positron emission tomography, and other state-of-the-art technologies to deliver the most advanced and detailed views available. This edition has a new Associate Editor, Neil Kaplowitz, MD, whose special area of expertise is hepatology. Sixteen new chapters focus specifically on liver disease. Other new chapters include genetic counseling and alternative medicine.

    Annotation

This book contains predominantly black-and-white illustrations, with some color illustrations.

    Daniel R. Ganger

This atlas is designed to add graphics and algorithms to accompany the Textbook of Gastroenterology by the same authors. The atlas is a single volume of 706 pages; the graphs and illustrations are of high quality. As stated by authors: A picture is a thousand words' worth. The objectives of the authors are worthy and met well. This book is written for practicing gastroenterologists. The contributors are very credible authorities, selected from the best academic institutions. The tables are busy but useful, and the book's illustrations vary in quality from good to excellent. This heavy, good looking volume contains an easy to find index and current references. The chapters correspond with those in the Textbook of Gastroenterology. This book complements and enhances the Textbook of Gastroenterology. It will not replace pure endoscopy, radiology, or pathology atlases. It should be purchased in conjunction with the Textbook of Gastroenterology.
