Upon reading Lee Canter's book on Assertive Discipline, I applied some of the strategies listed to my PreK-3 classroom. I read this through simply to see how far it would go. I can't believe that so many teachers would say this is great when somebody suggests that we become more controlling, coercive, and degrading to our students as people. They are people and should be treated as such, not manipulated or controlled like a machine.
