An expert in etiquette, Emma takes her pristine reputation most seriously.
But the devilish Lord Marlowe is determined to prove that some rules of proper behavior are made to be broken . . .
Infuriated when she realizes that her publisher employer, Viscount Harrison Robert Marlowe, has been rejecting her manuscripts without reading them, aspiring writer and most efficient secretary Emmaline Dove resigns her post and is immediately hired to write a pseudonymous weekly etiquette column (as Mrs. Bartleby) for the widely read Social Gazette. Emma is thrilled until she learns that Harry has acquired the Gazetteand is once again her boss. Magnetic, appealing characters, delicious sexual sparring, and witty comments from The Bachelor's Guide(Lord Marlowe) and Advice to Girl Bachelors(Mrs. Bartleby) add sparkle to this thoroughly delightful Victorian that nicely touches on the social inequities of the times. Guhrke (She's No Princess) lives in Idaho.

The New York Times bestselling author of numerous historical romances, Laura has received many literary awards, including romance fiction's highest honor, the RITA® Award, and her books routinely appear on the USA Today Bestseller list. When she's not tapping away at her keyboard, Laura spends her time relearning how to ski, mastering the wakeboard grab, and trying to actually hit a golf ball, much to the amusement of her friends.

February 25, 2009: This book offers lots of steamy scenes with genuine romance. The characters develop over the course of the book and the relationship grows out of intimacy, sexual and otherwise. Some might criticize such 'modern' seeming sensibilities in a Victorian setting, but there truly were pioneers who blazed the paths for women in the workplace, equitable relations between the sexes, and, yes, the now venerable institution of divorce.
