October 23, 2008: Certainly this will get you started! It is a very much to the point, no frills basics book. A deal for the price. It has no depth (for those who want more detail and depth consider "Chess for Everyone; A Complete Guide for the Beginner") and is written at an adult reading level using the old standard form of notation (Descriptive).

October 06, 2008: An old school type of book on the basics. Not a lot of material, but short and to the point. Gives what you need to know to learn how to play chess. Recommended for those who just want to learn very, very basic stuff.
