Textbook (Paperback - Older Edition)
Textbook Information
Known for its extremely student-friendly, jargon-free style, the new edition of American Government: Policy and Politics introduces the essentials of American government in a way that all students can understand. Public policy is emphasized throughout to show students the impact that government has on their lives. The text also offers an abundance of new and revised active learning exercises to involve and engage students in the course material and enable them to become participants in their government. The eighth edition includes exciting new features and is completely updated through the 2004 presidential election, including a 2004 Electoral College map and an analysis of the outcome.
A high-school textbook written especially for today's students, who are assumed to have no knowledge and little interest about how government works and who would rather be watching television or playing video games than reading a book. Updated to include current issues that demonstrate political and institutional principles. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)

July 21, 2003: This textbook offers a good overall view of American history. Though I am a high school student I would rather read it than watch TV or video games.
