Amelia Bedelia is sure she will love everything about the first day of school.
Amelia Bedelia can't wait.
What could be better?
School! School!
Hooray for school!
Amelia Bedelia has been making readers laugh since 1963, when the first Amelia Bedelia book was published. Now, for the first time, you can meet the young Amelia Bedelia. Come join the fun!
It's the first day of school for Amelia Bedelia—the concrete-thinking heroine of the long-running series, which, until now, has featured the character as an adult. As in previous books, Amelia's literalism results in amusing misunderstandings: Amelia's “name tag” has her sprinting through the room “playing tag,” and during “free time,” she does as her teacher's idiom—“Glue yourself to your seat”—requests. Readers will giggle over Amelia's mishaps, and her genuine joie de vivre may assuage first-day fears. Ages 4–8. (July)
More Reviews and RecommendationsHerman Parish is the nephew of Amelia Bedelia's creator, Peggy Parish, and the author of fourteen books about Amelia Bedelia, the grown-up. He lives in Princeton, New Jersey.

October 10, 2009: My granddaughter started kindergarten this year and has some characteristics of Amelia Bedelia. She loved the story--the only problem was that she was looking forward to trying out some of the pranks that AB did in the story! She had to be dissuaded from that! Cute and fun!
