Kids will gain a better understanding of the causes of air pollution and problems involved through the text of this timely book. Only a small amount of pollution is caused by natural events, such as volcano eruptions or forest fires. Most pollution is created by humans, and vehicle emissions are a major contributor to the problem. Coal-fired plants and disasters such as the Bhopal Gas Leak in 1984 and the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 2001 also cause air pollution. These can add to the greenhouse effect. Suggestions are made as to how kids and their families can help keep the air cleaner. The book is part of the "Saving Our World." It is illustrated with photographs taken in a variety of places around the world.
