Synopsis

What if you could really feel better as you get older, or age without illness? What could be better than having your doctor tell you that you have the bones of a twenty-year-old, or the heart of a thirty-year-old? Follow the advice in Ageless, and you’ll discover your own internal fountain of youth! In this #1 New York Times bestseller, Suzanne Somers reveals the secrets to a younger, healthier, and sexier you.

Jam-packed with updated information on bioidentical hormone replacement and antiaging, Ageless will change your life forever. Suzanne talks about:

• Antiaging medicine and how it can help work against the environmental assault that is making us sick

• Menopause, which can become an enjoyable passage once the body is in perfect hormonal sync with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy

• Why so many hysterectomies are unnecessary, how birth control pills may have contributed to the rise of them, and how to restore your body to perfect hormonal balance after having one

• The importance of sleep and the healing work that nature does during this time

Library Journal

Following up her previous books on health (e.g., The Sexy Years), Somers discusses bioidentical hormone replacement therapy as a tool for arresting the aging process. She recounts her own experiences and interviews others, both patients and doctors, who share her enthusiasm. The book is easy to read and may catch the attention of anyone over 35. On closer examination, however, her claims are not strongly substantiated. The so-called scientific explanations seem quite plausible, but solid research is sparse. Moreover, Somers contradicts herself on more than one occasion and makes several errors in fact, claiming, for example, that men's sexual peak is in middle age. There may well be something to her thesis, but more solid evidence is needed. Recommended only where there is demand. Susan B. Hagloch, formerly with Tuscarawas Cty. July 01, 2009: The information concerning bioidentical hormones if not easily found elsewhere. Most doctors are not versed in this type of medicine, but they should be. You may not need the prescriptions on top of prescriptions if you find you're suffering from a slight hormone imbalance of any type. Well worth looking into.
